Wow! 2014 was such a great year for GW Panhellenic. Between mixers, formals, field days, fundraisers, trips around campus and even around the world, our ladies have deepened their sisterhoods and strengthened their chapters. Panhel's events were enjoyed by all:
but even more success and memories have been made by each and every unique chapter. Here's a look at how 2014 was spent by our Panhellenic community:
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Delta Pi had a great 2014! The year was filled with memorable events like their 19ADPi Crush Party, “FALL in Love with ADPi” Photoshoot, and All American ADPi Bidday on the National Mall. Diamond Heist Philanthropy Week, ADPicnic on the National Mall, Initiation Celebration at Pinstripes, and finally their Semi Formal at the National Press Club were enjoyable ways for them to spend time with their sisters. The chapter worked together to admirably achieve titles such as 2014 Intramural Volleyball Champions, 1st place of Pi Kappa Phi’s "War of the Roses," 2nd place at "GW Greek Life: Greek Week", and 3rd place for Sigma Chi "Derby Days." Along with the new addition of 53 beautiful new Deltas, their Fall philanthropy week, Diamond Heist, raised $15,000 for The Ronald McDonald House Charities! Wow!
ADPi intends to achieve even more in 2015 including a successful and memorable Lionshare (Spring Philanthropy Week), all while showcasing a consistent, strong participation in both Fraternal and Sororal Philanthropies.
"2014 proved to our chapter the power of unity. By constantly supporting one another and truly living by our open motto, “We live for each other,” this past year has brought sisterly love, high spirits, and memorable accomplishments for the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi!"

Alpha Epsilon Phi
The year 2014 was full of so many great memories for the Alpha Gamma Chapter. The chapter not only welcomed a beautiful new pledge class, but they won two awards at the Alpha Epsilon Phi Leadership Conference in Atlanta. One award praised their presence in the Jewish community at GW, specifically Aephi's involvement with Challah for Hunger and Greek life Shabbats. Also, they were recognized for having a GPA above the national women’s average across all chapters!
For 2015, the sisters hope to not only expand their presence on campus, but also become more involved with other sororities and fraternities. The sisters are aware that, despite wearing different letters, all members of the GW Greek community have similar values.
"Looking back on 2014, we can proudly say that Aephi accomplished a lot and had fun doing so."
Their recognition at their national conference proved the dedication of their executive board and entire sisterhood to improving the chapter. Their passion and hard work throughout last spring semester led to the success of Phi Hoops and continued throughout the year as the sisters consistently participated in their own chapter’s events. showing their dedication to Aephi never failed to showcase their pride and commitment to their chapter as well as the GW Greek community at large.

Chi Omega
In 2014, Chi Omega’s proved their commitment to being “womanly always, discouraged never!” The chapter's tremendous year revealed their dedication to service by winning philanthropies (Greek Week, Sigma Chi’s Derby Days, Delt’s Tau-Gate, and Beta Cup) and the money ($15,000!) raised for their own philanthropy, Make-a-Wish. Chi Omega has also established a strong presence on campus; their sisters hold leadership positions in over 35 organizations on campus, such as ONE GWU, GW Dance Marathon, GW Women’s Club Softball, Spoon University GW, and GWU Program Board. Chi Omega's sisterhood has come out of 2014 stronger than ever after bonding events including a study excursion to the National Gallery, movie nights, Founder's Day, and holiday celebrations like Owloween! Chi Omega’s have also grown professionally, with many sisters undertaking jobs and internships at places such as the DNC, the DC State Board of Education, and the Department of Homeland Security.
The Phi Alpha chapter of Chi Omega at GW aspires "to maintain its standards of service, scholarship, and sisterhood. We are constantly striving to push the boundaries of what we can accomplish as a chapter through passion and perseverance." Collectively, the sisters want to strengthen their sisterhood while simultaneously growing ties within the Panhellenic sisterhood as a whole.
"By remaining dedicated to our causes, sisterhood, and strong values, Chi Omega believes we can achieve any goal we set for ourselves in 2015!"
Delta Gamma
· Last January, DG set sail on a journey that would end up being a memorable year. And in September, the sisters added a fabulous group of new members to join them. "We love these girls with more than anything in our hearts. We are so excited they are officially initiated sisters with the rest of the chapter now." Sharing a "Friendsgiving" all together was a nice way for them to take a study break from finals and to relax with other sisters.
"It made us rethink what we have, and how grateful we are for Delta Gamma."
· Their on-campus presence within other student organizations has grown tremendously this year. For instance, this past year, their very own Alex Blanc has been elected to serve as the Order of Omega President for 2015. In addition, one-third of the chapter has become heavily involved in GW Women in Business. "We are a group of strong, ambitious women who will continue to lead GW in the best way possible."
DG's extremely successful (and fun!) Anchorball philanthropy event, plus when granted the Award of Excellence from GW in the area of Programming and Membership Development, were among the many highlights of 2014. For this year, the sisters of Delta Gamma hope to
· "grow as a sisterhood and make our presence even stronger on campus by dominating philanthropies for other sororities and fraternities on campus." They also strive to continue their strong philanthropic involvement in the spring and ensure their spot as the top grossing sorority once again.
"2014 has had its highs and lows with our chapter, but the most important thing is that we have our sisterhood and that will never change. As we are sad to say goodbye to 2014, Delta Gamma is even more excited to welcome 2015 to see what it has in store this coming year for our chapter."
Kappa Delta
2014 was filled with highlights for the sisters of Kappa Delta: winning several fraternity philanthropies including Sigma Serve, ZBT Get On The Ball, and Lambda Chi Watermelon Bash; holding another successful spring philanthropy event, Shamrock KΔpture the Flag; hosting confidence-building events for DC-area Girl Scouts, like their infamous spring cookie sales day and their fall workshop on healthy lifestyles. Most of all, Kappa Delta’s favorite part of 2014 was welcoming their amazing PC ‘14 on the National Mall this fall! As for continued success in 2015, KD hopes to "continue to “strive for what is honorable, beautiful, and highest” and contributing to the greater Panhellenic and Greek community!"
For Kappa Delta, 2014 was filled with tremendous opportunities to strengthen their bonds as sisters, from living together in I-House to exploring DC with trips to a Nationals game, pumpkin patches, and ice-skating rinks.
"We look back on this past year with fond memories and look forward with an even stronger sense of sisterhood!"
Kappa Kappa Gamma
When asked for the "favorite memory" from 2014, there are so many for Kappa Kappa Gamma to choose from! Among the best include when the chapter alum and actress, Ashley Judd, spoke at Grand Chapter and took the GW Kappas out for french fries and milkshakes at BTS afterwards! The sisters are also in love their new pledge class and had a blast on Bid Day, another lovable experience! During Inspiration Week, KKG gathered to decorate fleur de lis and eat pizza as they bonded as a chapter and took home some amazing Kappa-inspired masterpieces. The sisters also enjoyed the time they spent planning and facilitating their annual “Reading Is Key” event where the entire chapter read, played, and taught young children in the area.
This year, KKG was an active participant in Sigma Chi’s Derby Days, Pi Kappa Phi’s War of the Roses, and Sigma Phi Epsilon’s Sweetheart Week. Individually, the chapter hosted their annual Kappa Kickball tournament and weeklong philanthropy fundraiser in order to raise money for Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). This event included a T-shirt sale, a Shophouse Kitchen fundraiser, a Relaxed Tans & Greek Merchandise fundraiser, and a Kappa Kookies bake sale. The week concluded with a kickball tournament between fraternities and athletic teams on the National Mall. where they raised over $8,000, $3,500 just in donations!
"This has been one our most successful years in terms of funds collected for RIF as well as support from The George Washington University’s Greek organizations and athletic community. We had a blast organizing and participating in all of our events together as sisters. The week brought us closer together as a chapter and as sisters. We can’t wait for next year!"
As they entered 2015, Kappa Kappa Gamma is "confident of Chapter Council’s abilities and what they have in store." Their goals for this year are to improve their average GPA and academic programming, increase and improve sisterhood retreats and activities, and add another philanthropy week this spring in support of RIF. This will include different fundraisers such as Capture the Flag and a picnic on the National Mall, and will be a great way to keep up the amazing spirit and success the chapter had from Kickball. KKG knows that they can do so much to improve their chapter during this upcoming year!
Phi Sigma Sigma
A favorite moment of of 2014? It has to be their 90th chapter anniversary. The sisters celebrated with chapter alum and high-ranking leaders from nationals throughout a weekend of events.
"This milestone reminded us why we love to be, and to continue excelling at representing Phi Sigma Sigma at GW."
2014 was the year of many huge accomplishments for the Kappa chapter! They had their most successful fall Recruitment, with 60 amazing new members joining their chapter. They came out strong for Greek Week, winning 3rd place for Team Harry Potter.
We all saw Phi Sig really succeed during the Greek Awards. The chapter's other awards of 2014 include Panhellenic Woman of the Year, Chapter Advisor of the Year, Housing Operations, Chapter Operations, Finalist for Chapter of the Year, Gold Chapter for New Member Development, and achievements in academics. They began a partnership with Higher Achievement to perform community service by mentoring young students. They also launched a new website and held a chapter retreat at Camp Highroads, all while many of their sisters held amazing internships throughout the year.
Sigma Delta Tau
SDT had a great 2014 with many fun and successful events. One highlight was welcoming their new member class in the fall. After an amazing Bid Day on the Mall where they welcomed their 48 new members, the chapter feasted on a delicious Italian dinner at Carmine’s while getting to know their beautiful Pledge Class. Throughout the year, SDT also executed many enjoyable sisterhood and philanthropy events; the Iron Chef sisterhood event on their floor in International House, Battle for the Torch week in the spring, and their Sig Delt Soccer competition in the fall were among the many favorites!
In 2015, SDT is excited to welcome an additional new member class for the spring. SDT is also busy planning multiple philanthropic and Panhellenic events for spring 2015, including an even more exciting Battle for the Torch week and a Zumba-thon event with other chapters. SDT continues to grow and develop its sisterhood and efforts on campus for their sisterhood and the Greek community as a whole.
"2014 was an important year for our chapter. We have grown immensely both in numbers and in bonds between our sisters and other chapters on campus. We have seen what our chapter can do in a multitude of different ways, and we are very proud. We want to maintain our positive track and see what other amazing things we can do for our sisterhood, Greek life and GW as a whole."

Sigma Kappa
In the words of SK:
"2014 was full of amazing growth for our chapter."
After participating in spring recruitment, their new pledge class of 10 amazing women joined in on their sisterhood, consisting of three sisters on the 2015 Order of Omega Executive Board, one sister on the 2015 Panhellenic Executive Board, members on the 2015 Colonial Cabinet as well as those holding leadership positions in many other student organizations. By showing the POV Documentary, “The Genius of Mirian,” the Greek community was educated about Alzheimer’s during their UV Days philanthropy week while they partnered with more student organizations- Greek and non-greek- to raise more awareness and funds. The chapter expanded their philanthropic efforts by winning PIKE’s Fireman’s Challenge and Sig Ep Sweetheart week. SK also participated in two Panhellenic philanthropies ADPi’s Lionshare and Alpha Phi Heart Week. In total, SK impressibly raised over 13,000 dollars for the Sigma Kappa Foundation...not to mention achieved the Platinum Giving Circle recognition (the highest donation level) and won the Sisterhood Recognition Award at the 2014 Sigma Kappa National Convention!
The chapter only expects continued success in the New Year and beyond.
SK hopes to increase the number of co-sponsored events that they enjoy with Panhellenic chapters such as community service mixers or philanthropic efforts! Sigma Kappa is so excited to see their women continue to grow and lead the chapter into another successful year!
